I designed the first version of the Skyscanner app for iOS and Android, and then led the mobile design team for over three years where I was responsible for all UX and visual design.
Translating the website’s wealth of features to a simple mobile experience was of course a huge challenge that required much collaboration. We frequently user tested our concepts and the shipped product to uncover any pain points in the conversion funnel. A good deal of the interface patterns we designed had never been implemented on mobile before but are now common place among travel apps.
Working closely with Skyscanner’s UX, product and back end teams we made their app one of the most successful in the world. It was consistently top of the App Store’s travel charts in 20+ countries, drew rave reviews, and has been downloaded over 30 million times.
